The announcement of Army 2020 brings months of speculation and political lobbying to a close but will be the beginning of a difficult and worrying period of transition for soldiers and families of units facing disbandment and amalgamation. Families should be aware that the notification of changes to the formation of soldiers' units will not mean that they will be made redundant; soldiers will have the opportunity to transfer to other units. Soldiers whose unit has been disbanded or amalgamated are at no greater risk of redundancy.
