What ArmyNET services appeal to you?

    Morning all.

In order to encourage friends and family to log in to ArmyNET with their own accounts we at ArmyNET are keen to run an advertising campaign extolling the virtues of the services we provide.

We would be most grateful if members of Rear Party took a couple of moments to post up what aspects of ArmyNET they find most appealing so that we incorporate these items into the advertising campaign.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Morning HP

From my perspective (i.e. military) the services which I think appeal to the family members and friends of soldiers would be:

Forums - same kind of format as this one and Arrse but with comment and feedback from the chain of command. Each forum has to have a moderator in order to operate. In particular the Welfare forum is split in 3 main areas:

    Routine Welfare
    Operational Welfare
    Housing Issues

E-mail - E-mails sent between ArmyNET account holders do not leave the server and are therefore more secure than those sent between hotmail accounts, BT accounts etc etc. ArmyNET to ArmyNET mails can not be intercepted.

Pay Statements - When a soldier sets up a guest account for his / her spouse he / she can give permission for his / her spouse to view their pay statement. This is of particular use if the household finances are managed by the spouse at home while the soldier is on operations. This pay information is available 7 - 10 days before the end of month, i.e. when it will be arriving in the nominated bank account.

Unit Websites - When units deploy on operations they create unit websites within ArmyNET which are regularly updated with photographs and blogs which keep friends and families updated on what the soldiers are getting up to on a regular basis. The content of these websites is very much up to the unit but most go down to Company / Squadron level so provide greater detail than just the big picture "COs Message" type of content.

    Those are my thoughts.

I've only ever really used it for two things.

Checking pay statements, which I do every month so there's never any nasty surprises on pay day if he gets over charged for something.

Also, when he was deployed this year I used it to look at his units web page on there. It had photos and welfare information on there which was quite handy.

I've been using Armynet for years.
Pay statements aren't available to view any longer for him, he gets sent a text message that tells him how many beer tokens I get each month!
